Noxafil 100 mg Tablet
Noxafil 100mg is a prescription antifungal tablet that helps prevent and treat serious fungal infections like invasive aspergillosis and candidiasis. It is mainly given to people with weakened immune systems, such as those on chemotherapy or recovering from a stem cell transplant. The usual dose is three tablets taken twice on Day 1, followed by three tablets once daily.

How It Works

- Delayed-release coating releases the drug in the intestine for higher, more predictable exposure than oral suspension.
Dosage, Uses & Possible Side Effects
Dosage & Administration:
- Loading dose: 300mg (three 100mg tablets) twice on Day 1.
- Maintenance: 300mg (three tablets) once daily from Day 2 onward.
- Duration of therapy is guided by the patient’s recovery from neutropenia or immunosuppression.
- Swallow whole with water, with or without food; do not crush, chew, or split. Not interchangeable with Noxafil oral suspension.
Uses:
- Prophylaxis of invasive Aspergillus and Candida infections in severely immunocompromised patients (HSCT recipients with GVHD, hematologic malignancies with prolonged neutropenia).
- Treatment of invasive aspergillosis in adults and pediatric patients ≥2 years weighing >40 kg.
- Treatment of invasive fungal infections refractory to amphotericin B, itraconazole, or fluconazole.
- Approved for use in adults and adolescents ≥13 years.
Possible Side Effects:
- Common: diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, hypokalemia.
- Serious: QT prolongation, hepatotoxicity, hypersensitivity reactions.
- Elevated blood pressure and low potassium (pseudoaldosteronism) have been reported.
